Prelude

After last years relatively easy ride and great route the lads tasked me with planning a similar route.

After much deliberation and thought I decided on this option alongside the Leeds Liverpool Canal.

Starting on the outskirts of Leeds to avoid the city centre, the distances and overnight stays fell into place.

This year the colour scheme was Red and White to reflect the colours of the roses for the counties of Yorkshire and Lancashire

Trying to find a suitable image for the shirts was difficult

I was just going to go with a white rose but the cyclists wanted something to reflect the ride by the Canal

so Colin N came up with his own origional sketch, I asked the shirt printers if it was possible to put it on a shirt and they said no problem and thought it was a great design

So order placed with TC Ebroidery and Shirts printed and yes they do look good

Our next problem was the pre ride meet up, with work, people away on breaks and other commitments it just seemed we could not find a date that would suit us all.

I suggested I could do a couple of dates if that would help to fit everyone in, not ideal but a possible workable solution.

We got together for breakfast on the Saturday before the ride, all discussed and happy with the arrangements. As was now the normal practice , Ian would sort the van, collecting it Sunday morning, Dave would come round with him to collect all the bikes, I was first on the route so as I had not got home till three in the morning following a party after the last Kynren show of the season I only had four hours sleep before my cycle and bags were to be collected. Ian and Dave arrived as planned on time. Coffee and chat then they were off to collect the other cycles.

Looking forward to and Monday first day of the ride, even though the weather forecast was not great, expecting wind and rain in our faces.
